Now you can see which AI tools your team really uses

Paying for Copilot and unsure if your team uses its custom agents? GitHub now shows their names in reports. I explain what you will see and what you will not.

In short
  • Copilot usage reports now show the names of custom skills, agents, MCP servers and commands.
  • Lists hold up to 25 entries instead of five; earlier days still show no names.

In short: GitHub Copilot usage reports now show the names of things you configured yourself, instead of a vague “other”.

What changed

  • Reports name custom skills, custom agents, MCP servers, slash commands and plugins.
  • Each list holds up to 25 entries per record (it was five); the rest goes into an “other” entry.
  • This covers enterprise and organization reports, including per-user ones.
  • Names appear only for days processed after this change.

What you need

Access goes to enterprise owners, billing managers, organization owners and roles with the “View Copilot Metrics” permission, and the metrics policy must be on. Names come from Copilot CLI 1.0.97 or later (prompt mode, the app, ACP integrations) and the Copilot SDK 1.0.21 or later. An IDE’s built-in chat does not report names.

How to read this

GitHub warns that telemetry can be undercounted, for example with outdated clients or blocked reporting, so use it for trends, not exact accounting. Review the names before sharing a report outside your company. I write more about agents in the coding agents hub.
