Check in one command how much you have spent on Vercel

A hosting bill can surprise you, especially when agents work for you. I show how to check spending from the terminal and set a budget that can pause sites.

In short
  • `vercel budgets` shows current spend and the team's active budget.
  • A budget alone stops nothing; pausing production needs the `--pause` flag.

The short version: Vercel CLI can now show a team’s spending and manage its budget. The vercel budgets command works for people, scripts and agents.

What changed

  • vercel budgets shows current spend and the active budget; per the post it also prints the three most recent alerts.
  • vercel budgets set --amount <dollars> creates or updates a budget.
  • With --pause, production deployments for all projects are paused at 100% of the budget.
  • vercel budgets remove --yes removes the budget.
  • vercel budgets alerts shows the full alert history, with --since, --until, --limit and --json filters.

Who can use it and the cost

The Owner or Billing role manages the budget. It is the same On-Demand Budget shown in team billing settings. According to Vercel, Spend Management costs nothing extra for Pro teams and for Enterprise teams on the Flexible Commitment plan.

How to read this

This is the vendor describing its own feature. The key sentence in the post is that setting a budget does not stop usage on its own. Without --pause you only get alerts. I write about the cost of models and services in the hub on model pricing.
